The competition at this year's North American Tea Championship (NATC) was fierce in every category. Some of the biggest names in the tea industry submitted their teas up for review.

Teas to be reviewed are separated by category and then submitted to rigorous analysis by a judging panel of tea connoisseurs. Each entry is reviewed based on different categories: sensory testing (dry tea), brewed color, brewed aroma, brewed flavor, brewed mouth-feel, and overall brewed harmony. After tasting, judges rate the teas out of 100, and these scores ultimately determine the winners.

This year, we were awarded two silvers and one bronze. Our Premium Matcha and Matcha Infused Genmaicha took home the silver in the “Matcha” and “Genmaicha” categories respectively, while our Premium Gyokuro took home the bronze in “Steamed Green Tea.”

Aiya is honored to have had the judges appreciate and grade our teas so highly, and our farmers have already begun training for to the 2014 championship!
