There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to the holidays- celebrating with loved ones, delicious food, presents, and the warm, fuzzy feeling this season evokes in us. Gift giving, though not most important, ranks high in importance during the holidays, and what better way to say "I love you" to your friends and loved ones than by making them something by hand? Here is a thoughtful holiday gift idea that is sure to put a smile on anyone you make this for- a DIY Matcha Cookie Mix Mason Jar featuring Aiya's Cooking Grade Matcha! A perfect idea for tea lovers, bakers, and dessert lovers all around, we've even created a printable recipe to include in the gift.

Mason Jar

  • 14 Tbsp flour
  • 2/3 Tbsp Aiya Cooking Grade Matcha
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 7 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp chocolate chips

Gift Receiver

  • 1 egg
  • 4 tbsp softened butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Pour cookie mix into larger bowl and mix.
  3. Mix in egg, butter, and vanilla extract until soft dough forms.
  4. Scoop into small 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet.
  5. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until edges are slightly golden.
  6. Remove from oven and enjoy!

Note: To create nice layers in the mason jar, pat down each layer with the back of a spoon to create a flat, even surface.

And there you have it- a simple yet thoughtful (and delicious) Christmas gift for all your loved ones! Layer, decorate and package the jar however you like, and don't forget to include the recipe sheet! You can print the recipe sheet here, or hand write it on paper of your choice. Happy gifting!
