Gyokuro (meaning “Jade Dew”) is the finest grade of Japanese loose leaf green tea. Similar to Matcha, the leaves are handpicked and shade-grown to preserve their amino acids, bringing out their natural, sweet taste. Gyokuro is a rare harvest in Japan and is cherished by tea connoisseurs all over the world.
Aiya is proud to offer Organic Gyokuro, considered to be one of the most difficult teas to produce organically in high quality due to its shade-grown method.
To enjoy the natural sweetness of Gyokuro, use cooler water (122F / 50C) and steep it longer. Steep 1 heaping teaspoon (3g) of Premium Gyokuro for 3 minutes in 120ml/4 oz of hot water. With this tea, one can pour more hot water over the tea leaves and enjoy another cup.
